In this article, I am going to explain to you how to use human translations in AEM, the AEM supports Human translations and machine translations, the human translations are very useful when you want to send content to third party translator providers, here the translators are professional people who have good knowledge on particular language

When to use human translators ?  there are some scenarios where the client does not want to give permission to authoring environment due to some security issues or some other factors to access the content then we can very well use human translators ,  the advantage of using human translators is you do not need to write any logic to export content into XML but you need to define translation rules

Using human translation feature first you need to export the content in the form of XML file and send it to the professional translators, the translators will identify the source language content and convert  into particular target language and import into AEM

Translation Rules :

The translation rules are stored in the XML file “/etc/workflow/models/translation/translation_rules.xml “, the translation rules are something that what properties do we need to include while exporting content using translation providers

First, you need to identify what are all the properties you need to export by going through all your component’s and page properties and a make a list, once the list is ready then update the translation rules with the list , the rules are something like below

The nod path is path of the page and resourceType maps to your custom component, and the property name maps to your component properties

Human Translation :

Go to the projects of author instance and click on create navigation link

The new page displays list of project types, you need to select Translation project and click on create

In the new window enter the title of translation project here, I am using “human translations”

In the advanced tab select source and target language and choose translation method is human translation and finally, click on create button

Go to the projects and select human translators project, on human translation job select three dots to open human translations project, once the job is opened add pages by clicking on + add

Once the pages are added the click on export, this will build zip folder by containing all selected pages, open the zip folder change the content and then import once again the same package to see the changes, the changes will be reflected by opening page using site admin
